Setting up your phone or device
Your VoIP line is a standard SIP account, so it works with almost any softphone, desk phone, ATA or PBX. Register the line's details and you're ready to make and take calls.
Fastest way — the ready-made Windows softphone
In My VoIP → Lines, each line has a 📱 Windows phone
download. It's a ready-to-run softphone (MicroSIP) with your line already configured —
unzip it, run MicroSIP.exe, and you're signed in and ready to dial. No SIP settings to type.
Your line's SIP details
Find these in My VoIP → Lines. You'll register with:
- Server / domain —
sip.transcom.net - Port — 5060 (UDP/TCP) or 5061 for TLS (encrypted).
- Username — your sub-account name (e.g.
151481_myoffice). - Password — the line's SIP password.
Devices we cover
- Softphones — apps on your computer or phone; enter the server, username and password.
- IP desk phones — enter the same SIP credentials in the phone's account settings.
- ATA / DECT — use an adapter to connect a traditional phone.
- PBX — add the line as a SIP trunk on your PBX.
The FreeVoIP Devices and Setting Up pages have worked examples for each. Prefer TLS (5061) where your device supports it for encrypted calls.
