Getting notified of chats
So you never miss a customer, TDesk alerts you two ways when a visitor asks for a human.
The doorbell ring
- When a new chat needs a human, TDesk plays a doorbell ring for about 30 seconds so it can't be missed.
- It rings from any open TDesk page (not just the inbox) — as long as you've a TDesk tab open, you'll hear it.
- It stops the moment you click (you've seen it), or when you mute.
- Toggle sound with the 🔔 Sound / 🔕 Muted button. Browsers block sound until you've interacted with the page, so click once on a TDesk tab to "arm" audio.
Desktop / OS notifications
- Enable notifications from the chat menu in the top bar (the 🔔 button). These pop even when TDesk is closed — as long as your browser is running and you allowed notifications.
- When a TDesk tab is open, the doorbell handles the sound and the OS toast is silent (so you don't get two sounds). When TDesk is fully closed, you get the single OS notification sound.
- On iPhone this only works in Safari — add the mobile console to your Home Screen first.
Multiple TDesk tabs open? Only one rings — they coordinate so you never get a chorus.
