Secondary DNS
Secondary DNS makes TDesk's nameservers act as slaves for a zone whose primary (master) is elsewhere — giving you extra resilient, geographically separate nameservers without moving primary control. Find it under Operations → Secondary DNS.
Adding a secondary zone
- Go to Operations → Secondary DNS.
- Enter the domain to slave and add it.
- Allow zone transfers (AXFR) to TDesk's nameservers on your primary, and add TDesk's nameservers as NS records.
- Use Sync all to pull the latest zones from the primaries.
Maintenance
- Remove takes a zone off the secondaries.
- Remove orphans clears slaved zones whose primary is no longer reachable or relevant.
This is different from normal DNS, where TDesk is the primary and you edit records directly.
