Secondary DNS

Secondary DNS makes TDesk's nameservers act as slaves for a zone whose primary (master) is elsewhere — giving you extra resilient, geographically separate nameservers without moving primary control. Find it under Operations → Secondary DNS.

Adding a secondary zone

  1. Go to Operations → Secondary DNS.
  2. Enter the domain to slave and add it.
  3. Allow zone transfers (AXFR) to TDesk's nameservers on your primary, and add TDesk's nameservers as NS records.
  4. Use Sync all to pull the latest zones from the primaries.

Maintenance

  • Remove takes a zone off the secondaries.
  • Remove orphans clears slaved zones whose primary is no longer reachable or relevant.

This is different from normal DNS, where TDesk is the primary and you edit records directly.
