The visitor's chat experience

The widget is designed to feel like a modern messenger, so visitors trust it and stay engaged.

Delivery ticks

Like WhatsApp, each of the visitor's own messages shows a tick, under the bubble:

  • Sent — received and stored by TDesk.
  • ✓✓ Delivered — someone who answers this widget is online.
  • ✓✓ (blue) Read — the agent opened the conversation.

Timestamps & avatars

Every message shows the time (in the visitor's local time), and a small avatar — a headset icon for your side, a person icon for the visitor — so it reads like a real chat.

Typing indicators

When you're typing a reply, the visitor sees animated "typing…" dots; when they're typing, you see the same in the inbox. It clears automatically when a message arrives.

Closing a chat

Either side can end the conversation — there's an End chat button in the widget header, and you can close it from the inbox. When closed, the widget shows a "conversation has been closed" note and a Start a new chat button. The status line in the header always shows your availability (Online/Away), never the conversation state.

If nobody's around

When no one is available, the widget can invite the visitor to leave their email so you can follow up — those land as leads and email you.
