Chat & communications overview
TDesk includes a full live chat system you can drop onto any website — yours or your customers' — with an optional AI assistant. Visitors chat from a bubble in the corner of the page; messages land in your Chat inbox inside TDesk, and you (or the AI) reply in real time. Find it under Communications → Chat.
What you get
- An embeddable widget — one
<script>tag, works on any site, no iframe (it's shadow-DOM isolated so it never clashes with the host page's styles). - A shared inbox with live takeover, availability status, and a "who's on the site now" panel.
- Human-only or AI — run it as pure live chat (a person answers), or switch on the AI assistant to answer from your website's content and hand off to a human when needed.
- WhatsApp-style delivery ticks, timestamps, avatars and typing indicators in the widget.
- Desktop & phone — answer from the panel on desktop or the mobile console, with push notifications and a ring.
- Lead capture — when nobody's available, the widget offers to take an email so you can follow up.
The pieces
- Adding the widget to a site — the embed code and install options.
- The chat inbox — replying, taking over, availability, presence.
- Getting notified — the ring, push notifications and sound.
- The visitor's experience — ticks, typing, closing a chat.
- AI chatbot & knowledge base — switching on AI and feeding it your content.
Chat is free on every plan, scoped so each customer only sees their own widgets and conversations.
