The chat inbox & replying

Incoming chats land in Communications → Chat → Inbox. Open a conversation to read it and reply live — what you type reaches the visitor instantly.

Answering

  • Click a conversation, type in the box and send — the visitor sees it appear immediately.
  • When you open a conversation, or reply, the visitor's messages are marked read (their ticks turn blue).
  • You can answer from more than one device; replies made on one show on the others.
  • Close a conversation when it's done — the visitor sees it's closed and can start a fresh chat. They can also close it themselves.

Your availability

A status picker (Online / Away / Busy / Appear offline) controls what visitors see. You count as available to visitors when you're present (a TDesk tab is open) and set to Online. Set Away/Busy/Offline to stay hidden even with the panel open — then the widget shows "Away" and offers to take the visitor's email.

Who's on the site now

The inbox shows an "On the site now" card — real visitors currently browsing a site that has your widget, with their page and rough location. Hit Ring to nudge one: their widget gently beeps, bounces and shows an invite (it never force-opens the chat — it invites and waits).

On your phone

There's a mobile console for answering on the go, with the same status picker and the who's-on-now card. On iPhone, notifications only work in Safari — add the console to your Home Screen to enable alerts.
