Using the file manager

The browser file manager handles common operations without needing SFTP.

What it can do

  • Browse files and folders
  • Upload files (drag-drop or Upload button)
  • Upload whole folders (preserves directory structure)
  • Create new files and folders
  • Edit text files in the browser (syntax highlighting)
  • Delete files and folders
  • View permissions, owner, modification time

Upload limits

100 MB per file. Whole folder uploads are unlimited in total, the cap is per-file. For larger single files, SFTP.

Drag and drop

Drag files from your desktop onto any folder view. A teal drop-zone overlay appears showing where the files will land. Release to upload.

Editing files

Click any text file to open the editor. Save with Ctrl-S / Cmd-S. Closes back to the file listing. Binary files (images, archives) can be downloaded but not edited in the browser.

On your own server

If your account runs on a connected server of your own, the file manager works exactly the same — operations are carried out on your server by the TDesk agent. Browsing, upload, editing and deletion are all supported.
