Dropcatch: catching expiring domains

Dropcatch is Transcom's service for catching expiring .uk and .co.uk domains the moment they're released — so you can grab a name someone else is about to drop. You only pay when a catch succeeds.

How it works

When a .uk domain isn't renewed, Nominet eventually releases it back to general availability at a precise moment. Dropcatch monitors pending-release domains and fires registration attempts at exactly the right time, competing to register the name as it drops. If the attempt wins, the domain is registered to you; if it doesn't, you pay nothing.

Pay per catch

  • No subscription, no tag required for the free tier — add the domains you want to chase.
  • You're charged only on a successful catch — failed attempts cost nothing.
  • Caught domains land in your account ready to use — point them at a site, forward them, park them, or sell them.

Why catches aren't guaranteed

Dropcatching is competitive — multiple catchers chase desirable names at the same instant, and only one registration wins. Common or sought-after domains are harder to catch. The pay-on-success model means you can chase as many as you like without risk; you only pay for the ones you actually get.

After a catch

A caught domain behaves like any other domain in your account — manage its DNS, set a hosting mode, park it while you decide, or list it for sale.
