AI chatbot & knowledge base

Any widget can be upgraded from human-only live chat to an AI assistant (powered by Claude) that answers instantly from your own website's content and hands off to a human when it should.

Switching AI on

  1. Open the widget's settings and enable AI.
  2. Pick the model (the assistant runs on the latest Claude models — the default is a strong general model; you can choose the top-tier model for maximum quality).
  3. Build its knowledge base (below) so it answers from real content, not guesses.

The knowledge base

  • Crawl your site — point it at your website and it fetches your pages, extracts the text and indexes it. Re-crawl whenever your content changes to refresh it.
  • Q&A and uploads — add specific question/answer pairs or documents for things not on the site.
  • The assistant only answers from this knowledge — it's told not to make things up, and to escalate if it doesn't know.

How it behaves

  • It replies in the chat like a human would, using your knowledge base.
  • If the visitor asks for a person, or the AI decides it should, it escalates to a human — the conversation drops into your inbox exactly like a live chat, and the AI steps back so it doesn't talk over you.
  • You can hand a conversation back to the bot afterwards.
  • A monthly message cap protects against runaway cost; over the cap it politely takes an email instead.

Human-only widgets never call the AI (and never cost anything to run). Only AI-enabled widgets use the assistant.
